Nilima Ramteke
Senior Financial Sector Specialist, World Bank
Nilima Ramteke is a Senior Financial Sector Specialist with the Payment Systems Development Group, Finance, Competitiveness and Investment Global Department, World Bank in Washington, DC. As part of the work, she is providing technical assistance in the area of payment and market infrastructures which amongst others include, development of payment system strategies, facilitating implementation, legal and regulatory aspects (including compliance with international standards), oversight and capacity building. She is also engaged with the cross-border payments for the South Asia, East African Community (EAC) region and the Pacific CBR project. She has participated as an expert assessor in of the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) for a few countries. She was part of the World Bank team involved with the FATF R16 and R1 recommendations. She continues to contribute to the work of the CPMI-IOSCO Policy Standing Group (PSG).
Prior to joining the World Bank in November 2018, she had been working with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for more than two and a half decades in the area of payment and settlement systems. She has wide experience in policy making, and oversight covering payment and settlement systems comprising FMIs and retail payments. She was involved in the implementation payment systems in India, including the framing and review of the associated regulations. As head of the Oversight Division, she was responsible for the oversight of FMIs and retail payment systems. Nilima has represented the RBI in several expert domestic and international working groups and task forces including the CPMI-WB Task Force on Payment aspects of financial inclusion, CPMI-IOSCO Implementation Monitoring Standing Group (IMSG), Working Group on LEI and the SWIFT Oversight Forum (SOF), as well as supported the regional SAARC Payments Council (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation). She has also been engaged with the SSBs work and provided inputs/comments/views on various related topics.
