Amani Mbale is a financial inclusion strategist and digital payments expert with over 15 years of experience working across Africa’s fintech and policy ecosystems. She currently serves as East Africa Lead with the Inclusive Financial Systems at the Gates Foundation, where she leads initiatives focused on interoperable payment systems, regulatory innovation, and equitable access to financial services.

Amani has advised central banks, regional economic communities, and development partners on digital public infrastructure, cross-border payments, and inclusive finance strategies.

Her work bridges policy and practice, with a deep commitment to building resilient, people-centered financial systems that serve the underserved.
