'Revolutionizing Payments: The PIX Brazil Success Story’ is an insightful 8-episode YouTube video series by AfricaNenda Foundation, a non-profit and an African-led team of experts committed to unlocking the potential of digital financial services for the financially excluded across the continent, by accelerating the scale-up of inclusive instant payment systems. It features a conversation between Sabine Mensah, Deputy CEO at AfricaNenda and Carlos Eduardo Brandt, Deputy Department Head, Banco Central do Brasil , on the PIX journey. In November 2020, Brazil’s central bank launched PIX, a payment system which allows for fast, free smartphone transfers from bank accounts or digital wallets. PIX transactions for the first quarter of 2023 totaled 8.1 billion, versus 4.2 billion credit card and 3.8 billion debit card transactions, according to BCB data.
